Delta Barrington and Delta Halifax raise big funds for Habitat for Humanity

 

 

 

Halifax, NS - November 30, 2011 ­ The Delta Barrington and Delta Halifax have announced that they have raised $90,025.43 in support of Habitat for Humanity at their third annual fundraiser Raise A Little Hellp this past June making a grand total of $248,308.80 over the past three years.

 

The Delta Hotels have also announced that the 2012 event has been set for Thursday, June 7 at the Delta Halifax. Raise A Little Hellp, which raises funds to sponsor homes built by Habitat for Humanity in Nova Scotia, features the best of Nova Scotia beverage and cuisine, offering food stations with regional specialties and an extensive selection of wine and spirits. There is also a silent auction in which attendees can bid on such items as trips to some great Canadian locations, concerts, and music memorabilia.

 

Each year, the event hosts acclaimed musical guests. Since the events inception, artists such as Jimmy Rankin, Ron Hynes, Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, Matt Mays, Thom Swift, Old Man Leudecke, Stephen Fearing, Steve Poltz, Christina Martin, Ron Hawkins and David Myles have all performed and donated their time to this great cause.

 

 

 

 

Musical guests for the 2012 event will be announced in the New Year.

 

The Raise a Little Hellp event is part of Delta¹s year-long Good Neighbours Challenge, which seeks to raise $1 million and donate 15,000 volunteer hours to local charitable causes from coast-to-coast.

 

Habitat for Humanity is a community-based, not-for-profit organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live! Their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide network that spans 100 countries, has built over 250,000 homes and is now building a new home every 21 minutes!
