Federal Government Announces $4.7 million in Culture Grants for New Brunswick

Fredericton, January. 27, 2012 – The Federal Government has announced $4,677,830.00 in funding support for a wide range of cultural organizations in New Brunswick.
The funding supports a wide range of organizations and projects across the province, including many local festivals and cultural organizations. Organizations receiving support include Symphony New Brunswick, the Atlantic Presenters Association, the New Brunswick Summer Music Festival, Winterfesthiver in Fredericton, and the World Acadian Congress, which will be held in northwestern New Brunswick in 2014.
Support for 103 projects was announced by the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, and Member of Parliament (Fredericton), on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
"Our Government received a strong mandate from Canadians to invest in important local projects like those announced today," said Minister Moore. "By supporting these activities in New Brunswick, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy, boost tourism, and support our arts, culture, heritage, and official languages."
The Government of Canada has provided funding through various programs of the Department of Canadian Heritage.

Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage: 2011-2012
The Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
