Measha Brueggergosman steps Into the Spotlight at Confederation Centre in support of youth arts education

Charlottetown, PE – February 26, 2013 - Confederation Centre is stepping out from Behind the Red Velvet and Into the Spotlight with a new look for its annual fundraiser in support of arts education programs for youth. This year, the Centre presents an exquisite private concert from Grammy-nominated Canadian superstar, Measha Brueggergosman on March 23, at The Mack.
“The education of our youth in the performing and visual arts has long been an important pillar of Confederation Centre’s mandate,” says Jessie Inman, C.E.O. “We are thrilled to present Measha in an intimate concert setting towards such a great cause. She is a world-renowned artist and we anticipate the tickets to disappear very quickly.”
Over the last ten years, the elegant Behind the Red Velvet fundraiser has proven a very popular initiative, raising more than $250,000 for dance, theatre, music and visual arts programs for youth, ages 3 and up. The flair of this event will remain at the forefront this year, with flowing champagne, specialty martinis, and delectables on offer at a dazzling reception in the transformed Mack theatre prior to the Juno-winning vocalist taking to the stage.
Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Brueggergosman has emerged over the last decade as one of the most magnificent performers of the day. Noted by the San Francisco Chronicle as “a singer of rare gifts and artistic integrity” and by the Miami Herald for possessing “a voice capable of just about everything,” the soprano is acclaimed by the international press as much for her voluptuous voice and innate musicianship, as for possessing a dominant stage presence beyond her years
.
The star singer will be performing songs from her first contemporary album, I've Got a Crush on You--which interprets the hits of Feist, Joni Mitchell, Cole Porter, and The Gershwins, among others. Don’t miss your chance to step out of the ordinary and Into the Spotlight, March 23 at The Mack.
Tickets are going fast, so don’t delay! If ordered before March 8, early bird tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased by calling Sarah Hastelow at (902) 629-1159 or via email, at shastelow@confederationcentre.com. A tax receipt will be issued for a portion of the ticket price. For more information, please visit confederationcentre.com/spotlight.
