Mark Bragg discusses his new CD "Your Kiss" by eastcoastkitchenparty

Bragg is as strong a storyteller as he is a musician and bandleader. Bragg and his outstanding band recorded Your Kiss live off the floor in Stage House Studios in St. Philips, Newfoundland. Everything was recorded in the same room at the same time... bass, drums, guitar, keys, vocals, band backups, everything.

Says Bragg of the live experience, “As a bandleader and vocalist who writes narrative fiction, I have a lot of license about how it's delivered. Its role-playing, or acting I guess, whatever you want to call it. It doesn't really feel like acting though, because a rock band on a stage isn't a contrived environment. It is pounding drums, blaring amps, pumped up musicians, it's natural. And I'm whoever I've written about this time, probably a murderer full of rage and desire or something like that, spitting lyrics into the midst. It's way too fun."

Bragg was awarded the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award and the regional winner of the CBC "Great Canadian Music Dream." In 2006, he also won the Music NL ‘Alternative Artist of the Year’ and was nominated for two ECMA’s for ‘Alternative Album of the Year’ for both Bear Music and The Restless Kind.
