New album by Duane Andrews and Dwayne Côté 'The Empress' is set to impress

St. John’s, NL – May 8, 2012 – Dwayne Côté and Duane Andrews are back with a new album tour. Well deserving of its royal moniker Dwayne Côté and Duane Andrews' sophomore album The Empress is certainly set to impress. Like their debut self-titled album, The Empress finds a striking balance between the rich complexities of the music they play and the simple instrumentation of only a fiddle and a guitar.
Mixing the traditional music of Cape Breton and Newfoundland with gypsy and jazz sounds showcased on their first multi-award winning album (2010), the new tracks which include a tribute to Cape Breton greats Winston Fitzgerald and Estwood Davidson as well as a modern instrumental interpretation of the Newfoundland classic "Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary's". With the addition of tracks from Austrian violinist Fritz Kreisler and French Gypsy guitarist Gusti Malha their pallet broadens with a hint of global flair. There are also original tunes from both Côté and Andrews.
Here’s a new video just produced as the tour is about to begin.
In 2010 the two old friends combined forces to release their debut album which earned awards from MusicNL, Music Nova Scotia and the ECMA. Most recently they won the instrumental album category from the Independent Music Awards whose judges this year included Tom Waits, Seal and Ozzy Osbourne.
