Video Interview: Breagh Mackinnon – “Cape Breton’s Next Big Thing”

Ottawa, ON – July 12, 2012 – She won a high school contest proclaiming she would be “Cape Breton’s Next Big Thing.” Breagh Mackinnon is proving them right.
Her initial EP and an appearance at the ECMA’s in Moncton have kept this young singer-songwriter busy across Canada. In a matter of days Breagh had festival appearances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival and the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.
We caught up with Breagh at the Ottawa Blues Festival. She was there to compete in the “She’s the One” competition.
The Ottawa Bluesfest “She’s the One Competition” included three Nova Scotia female vocalists. In addition to Breagh, Molly Thomason was in the solo vocalist category and Carmen Townsend was in the band competition. Six were selected to participant from hundreds of submissions that came in from across Caanda. Molly won the solo competition while Miss Emily won the band competition.
Breagh has just completed a new CD recorded at Lakewind Studios. The preview video of the new album is available below.
