Cape Breton’s Ashley McKenzie Wins Second NSI Online Short Film Festival Award

Toronto, ON – July 27, 2014 - The Island, directed by Trevor Anderson, won the $1,250 A&E Short Filmmakers Award for best film; Ashley McKenzie won the $2,000 Shaw Media Fearless Female Director Award for best film by a female director for her work on When You Sleep; and The Last Video Store directed by Cody Kennedy and Tim Rutherford, won the $750 Bite Comedy Award for best comedy. All winners also receive a complimentary Friend membership to the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
