2013 Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Awards Announced
St. John’s, NL – May 18, 2013 - The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC) presented the 28th Arts Awards tonight at the D.F. Cook Recital Hall in St. John’s, NL. Six awards honouring the accomplishments of Newfoundland and Labrador’s artists were presented.
2013 Atlantic Book Awards Winners Announced
Dartmouth – Mary 17, 2013 - The winters of the 2013 Atlantic Book Awards were announced Thursday night in a ceremony held at Alderney Gate Theatre in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. CBC Radio’s Louise Renault hosted the sold-out event, with books representing the wide range of literary works being produced in Atlantic Canada—from traditional novels to cutting edge fiction; thought-provoking non-fiction and deeply researched books on Atlantic Canadian history, to poetry; and illustrated children’s picture books to novels written for teens and young adults. There was special recognition for the Dartmouth Book Awards – celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2013 - and a new award, the Atlantic Book Award for Scholarly Writing, was presented for the first time.
2013 Halifax Seaport BeerFest Plans Announced
Halifax, NS - May 15, 2013 - Named Festival of the Year in Halifax’s FACES magazine, the Halifax Seaport BeerFest: Atlantic Canada’s largest beer festival returns for its 7th year. This year the event will take place at the Cunard Centre (961 Marginal Road) on Halifax’s waterfront, Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10.
